This is just a page for adding extra photos and I will update it periodically with more photos as they come.

Weekend trip to Wellington and Picton:

Just some pictures of my home.

Weta Cave!

I was impressed by their clever signage.

Below are images taken from the Wellington Botanical Gardens and other surrounding areas. I want you to appreciate how in one picture of Wellington there is hardly a cloud in the sky & is super sunny, while in another take a few hours later it is cloudy and overcast. Both taken on the same day. About an hour after that photo was taken and about 15 - 30 minutes after the photos in the garden below were taken it hailed and then rained on and off for a couple of hours... at times while the sun was shining. Oh, New Zealand weather.

Below are images from a WWI army training site and WWII Japanese POW camp memorial in Featherston.

???
Oh yeah....
It's an active volcano.
It was also one of the filming locations for Mordor. Mt Ngauruhoe was the main inspiration for Mount. Doom, but some of the scenes were also filmed on the slopes of Mt. RaupehuSomewhere between Hamilton and Rotorua:

I've attempted to capture the stunning views that I woke to on Tuesday after crazy weather the day before and possibly one of the coldest nights of my stay. If you look carefully you should be able to see the snow blowing/evaporating off the mountains in some shots. They were so breath-taking and, since this was taken after I finished my shift, this was after some of the snow had melted. Once again, I've kept true to my habit of forgetting my camera. The light is the best for the mountains in the morning and the snow was really evaporating then, so it would have been an amazing photo, but these will have to do.
Probably one of my favourite shots so far |
I'd like to thank the owner of the below field for making it easier for me to get into his field to take some photos of the scenery.
I thought this was adorable! |

This is a fine example of one of the ways many people choose to travel around New Zealand. They're not all this colourful though.
The shot below was take where the main road meets the road leading to the Regional Park. Doesn't exactly screem "Rivendell was here" does it?
